How much could I get for a used 9 month, great condition HP laptop?(box, cd’s, manuals included)?

It is a HP dv6308nr, about 9 months old, great condition with 2 gb of RAM.. It retailed at 699.00 at Best Buy

I am considering upgrading to a better model laptop and I was just wondering what kind of ballpark price someone may pay for this on ebay or something. Also, is there any major retailer or store that would do a trade-in?

I got a free laptop from this site, I highly recommend it!

Papa's Delicate Condition

Papa’s Delicate Condition

$9.12

This charming tale is about a young girl’s father and his slightly erratic behavior after sampling a refreshing alcoholic beverage. Although Papa Jack Griffith (Jackie Gleason) never appears to be drunk, his “delicate condition” is well known to his family. His wife is definitely unhappy over his penchant but loves him just the same. He is adored by his youngest daughter, six year old Corinne (Linda Bruhl). When he tries to buy a pony for Corinne, he not only gets the pony but the entire broken down, debt ridden circus as well. This is too much for wife Ambolyn (Glynis Johns), who packs up the kids and heads for her father’s house in Texarkana. Jack follows with the entire circus in pursuit to take his loving family back home. He also hoodwinks some local investors to put money into a proposed drug store, thereby circumventing a blue law that forbids the sale of alcohol. Gleason’s performance contain many fine moments that run the full spectrum of human emotions and clearly illustrates why he has deservedly been referred to as “The Great One.” ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

The Condition

The Condition

$5.99

The Condition tells the story of the McKotches, a proper New England family that comes apart during one fateful summer. The year is 1976, and the family, Frank McKotch, an eminent scientist; his pedigreed wife, Paulette; and their three beautiful children has embarked on its annual vacation at the Captain’s House, the grand old family retreat on Cape Cod. One day on the beach, Frank is struck by an image he cannot forget: his thirteen-year-old daughter, Gwen, strangely infantile in her child-sized bikini, standing a full head shorter than her younger cousin Charlotte. At that moment he knows a truth that he can never again unknown something is terribly wrong with his only daughter. The McKotch family will never be the same. Twenty years after Gwen’s diagnosis with Turner’s syndrome, a genetic condition that has prevented her from maturing, trapping her forever in the body of a child, all five family members are still dealing with the fallout. Each believes himself crippled by some secret pathology; each feels responsible for the family’s demise. Frank and Paulette are acrimoniously divorced. Billy, the eldest son, is dutiful but distant, a handsome Manhattan cardiologist with a life built on compromise. His brother, Scott, awakens from a pot-addled adolescence to a soul-killing job, a regrettable marriage, and a vinyl-sided tract house in the suburbs. And Gwen is silent and emotionally aloof, a bright, accomplished woman who spurns any interaction with those around her. She makes peace with the hermetic life she’s constructed until, well into her thirties, she falls in love for the first time. And suddenly, once again, the family’s world is tilted on its axis. Compassionate yet unflinchingly honest, witty and almost painfully astute, The Condition explores the power of family mythologies, the self-delusions, denials, and inescapable truths that forever bind fathers and mothers and siblings.

Condition Red [Japan Bonus Track]

Condition Red [Japan Bonus Track]

$35.99

Condition Red is the fourth full-length album by German band Iron Savior. The album finds the bandmembers staying quite close to their tried-and-true brand of power metal. Don’t expect any drastic musical revelations here, though, but don’t expect to be bored, either. They dish out the metal in a very entertaining manner. In short, the album rocks. It comes screaming in, and it is obvious quite early on that these guys really want to be Judas Priest at times. That said, they are a great substitute for that classic metal band when they put their minds to it, although guitarist/vocalist Piet Sielck is definitely no Rob Halford (who is, though?). For those who doubt the Priest-isms, check out “Protector.” Iron Savior infuse the Priest textures with the more power metal vocals of groups like Manowar, though. They also throw in the neo-symphonic textures of groups like Helloween and Rhapsody. The limited-edition version of the CD includes a cover of (believe it or not) a Seal cut: “Crazy” may seem an unusual choice for a metal band, but Iron Savior makes the song its own, and puts in a very intriguing rendition. The album’s lyrics for the most part continue the story of the Iron Savior (an original concept of the band and the source of its name), leading one to wonder whether there will ever be a conclusion. The overall effect of this disc is that it is a solid metal release that brings the Judas Priest sound into a more pure power metal vein. The album definitely has some strong material, but overall suffers a bit from a certain sameness and being a bit overlong. [This Japanese release includes bonus material.] ~ Gary Hill, Rovi

“Don Geyer is a licensed minister and taught part time at the Oregon College of Ministry for six years. Although now employed as a technical writer, his passion is communicating God’s word through teaching, preaching, and missions. When not writing or teaching, Don can often be found on stage in dramatic presentations or in his garage crafting wooden swords with Scriptural themes. Don is also co-founder of Word in Motion Ministries, a ministry dedicated to teaching the practical application of God’s Word, and promoting worship as a lifestyle not just a Sunday morning experience. Don, along with his wife, and two children live in Sandy, Oregon. Lucas, the author of the third Gospel, was an educated man. As such he was supposed to have all the answers, but his years of medical training left him with an inquisitive mind. Included in his Gospel are stories unique to his account, but he was cryptic in their telling. What really happened as he traveled the Holy Land in search of the truth? What he encountered was more than he bargained for and in the process the doctor discovers his own Heart Condition. Walk the dusty path with Lucas as he encounters eyewitnesses of the amazing and enduring legacy left behind by the Man who changed history, who changed eternity: Jehoshua. What will you discover along the way?”

The Inhuman Condition

The Inhuman Condition

$11.89

Released to little fanfare, this six-track EP was originally intended to ease Montreal native Sam Roberts into the lower echelon of Canadian rock acts, but tremendous public response to lead single “Brother Down” and its equally successful follow-up, “Don’t Walk Away Eileen,” instead conspired to turn The Inhuman Condition into a surprise commercial smash. Built around a circular acoustic guitar riff, rolling bassline, and summery clap track, the former instantly recalled an upbeat Jane’s Addiction at the peak of their powers; with its kick-started guitars and rolling refrain, the latter demonstrated Roberts’ knack for marrying potent and melodic hooks with breezy rock. As with the other four songs on the EP (of which the vaguely baggy “Where Have All the Good People Gone?” and the three-minute pogo of “This Is How I Live” stand out as highlights), there’s also a refreshing air of unpretentiousness to these recordings; that Roberts is still able to hold the ear of the indie scene that spawned him in the face of his ubiquitous presence on mainstream Canadian media says volumes about his everyman likeability. ~ Mark Pytlik, Rovi Performers: Andrew Rodriguez – Echo, E-Bow; Jordon Zadorozny – Bass, Percussion, Drums; Sam Roberts – Voices, Keyboards, Bass, Guitar

It’s a tribute to Bobby Caldwell’s consummate songwriting skills that his three original compositions — including the previously recorded, melancholy would-be classic “Stuck on You” — fit in perfectly alongside standards by the likes of Cole Porter and Sammy Cahn/Jimmy Van Heusen on the very tradition-minded Blue Condition. Best known for easygoing R&B-flavored adult pop vocals, Caldwell reaches back and superimposes himself in front of lively big-band arrangements that recall classic Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin recordings. Drummer Colin Stranahan is a student at the Monk Institute in New Orleans and an alumnus of the Denver School of the Arts, and began gigging when he was just 11 years old. Now in his twenties, he has released his third album as a leader, and it’s both intellectually fascinating and visceral. What makes it even more impressive is that it manages to be both interesting and involving without the use of any chordal instruments: his trio consists of himself, bassist Chris Smith, and alto saxophonist Ben Van Gelder (tenor player Jake Saslow guests on two tracks, “For the Third Time” and “A Promise”). Playing without a piano or guitar to provide harmonic context can make a date like this one sound dry and abstract, and it’s true that dryness and abstraction are sometimes the hallmarks of these tunes; but at their best (such as on a lovely rendition of “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the calm but inquisitive “Birthday Song”), the performers use that extra sonic space wisely, filling it with enough notes to make the music’s structure clear, but not so many that it sounds crowded or frantic. At times, such as on the slightly more chaotic setting of Joe Henderson’s “Inner Urge,” things wander a bit and the music loses focus. But such missteps are rare, and are easily overshadowed by such highlights as the joyful romp of “A Promise” and a sharply reimagined version of Thelonious Monk’s “Evidence.” This is a very, very impressive effort from a major (and startlingly young) talent. ~ Rick Anderson, Rovi Performers: Ben Van Gelder – Sax (Alto); Colin Stranahan – Drums; Jake Saslow – Sax (Tenor)

As a massive storm crept off the coast of Japan and began ominously moving eastward towards Hawaii’s North Shore, surfers marveled at the prospect of taking on monstrous waves despite the Coast Guard’s announcement of “Condition Black” – an emergency contingent that intended to deny all access to the water. But it takes more than a harshly worded warning to dissuade death-defying surfers from the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of taking on forty-foot waves, and despite the treacherous conditions numerous wave-riding rebels set out to do just that. In this installment of PBS’ award-winning Nature series, filmmakers offer interview with the fearless surfers who defied the Coast Guard as well as footage of their exploits in a thrilling display of man versus Mother Nature that must be seen to be believed. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Exhibit B: The Human Condition

You can always count on Exodus to supply some good, old-fashioned, downright vicious thrash metal with each release. And the lads deliver once more on their 2010 offering, Exhibit B: The Human Condition (impressively, their fourth album over a six-year period — 2004-2010). As with the past few Exodus releases, guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Tom Hunting are the sole original members left in attendance. But this certainly doesn’t prevent the group from offering up an absolutely brutal slab of thrash metal — with the intensity not dipping one iota from beginning to end. And according to Holt, Exhibit B is a bit of a concept album, as the lyrics deal with such warm and fuzzy topics as “cruelty, ignorance, inhumanity, and brutality.” Either way, the heavy duty topics certainly fit in well with the fast and furious riffing and vocal roars (the latter courtesy of Rob Dukes) — as evidenced on such headbanging ragers as the album opener, “The Ballad of Leonard and Charles,” as well as “Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)” and “March of the Sycophants.” Even with the tunes that momentarily take a breather (“Democide,” “A Perpetual State of Indifference,” etc.), it’s only a matter of time until Exodus rams down the gas pedal once again and returns to their chug-a-lug riffery. Exodus has always liked it fast and furious, and they certainly don’t disappoint with Exhibit B: The Human Condition. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi Performers: Peter Tagatgren – Vocals (Background); Gary Holt – Guitar; Jack Gibson – Bass; Lee Altus – Guitar; Rob Dukes – Vocals; Tom Hunting – Drums

Too Long in This Condition

Alasdair Roberts’ sixth proper album, an 11-track, upper level course on contemporary and traditional Scottish balladry, begins with a tale that concerns a cheating wife being escorted to Hell by Satan himself on his own ghost ship. “Daemon Lover” may sound like a downer, but Roberts’ sprightly guitar work and amiable delivery make it sound more like a campfire ghost story than a cautionary tale of the pitfalls of adultery. Too Long in This Condition differs little from the singer/songwriter’s previous outings, which is good news for anyone who has followed his rise from Will Oldham-esque, U.K. folk oddity under the moniker Appendix Out to one of most respected, modern practitioners of the English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh folk tradition. His renditions of classics like “Long Lankin,” “Little Sir Hugh,” “The Golden Vanity,” and “Barbara Allen” are just loose enough to retain their authenticity, and well-honed enough to earn the abbreviated guitar tablature (complete with capo locations) that accompanies them in the liner notes. Nic Jones, Archie Fisher, and Dick Gaughan may have blazed his trail, but it’s Roberts who’s leading the way now. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi

The Great Violinists, Vol. 22

The Great Violinists, Vol. 22

$15.18

With Symposium’s The Great Violinists Volume XXII we experience something this British historical label does better than many of its competitors; namely to expose historical recording artists that few, if any, have heard. This disc combines eight tracks by amazing violinist René Benedetti and nine European recordings made by American violin player Harry Solloway. It is Solloway who is the better known of the two, as his violin is heard in the soundtracks of countless movies made during Hollywood’s “Golden Age.” Benedetti was a chamber musician based mainly in Europe, and these records may be the only solos he ever recorded.Of the two, Benedetti that captures one’s attention immediately; he is very rapid, precise, and has an interesting and original approach to ornaments. Benedetti, who was the same age as Jascha Heifetz, possesses some similarity to Heifetz’s tone and style, but is more aggressive and edgy — his playing has electricity and practically crackles with excitement. From another discipline entirely comes Solloway, a student of Jenö Hubay who alternates broad, thickly applied strokes of portamento with passagework that is ultra-light, wispy, and incredibly fast. While Solloway’s appeal may not seem so immediate coming in the shadow of a player like Benedetti, it is instructive to go back and hear him again without listening to his disc mate, as Solloway has something to offer on his own terms. Solloway also offers a rare performance of his teacher Hubay’s Carmen Fantasie, whereas Benedetti is heard in an excellent reading of the more familiar Carmen Fantasie of Pablo de Sarasate. Highly unusual in the Symposium release is that, while it contains the discographical data on the recordings used, it does not provide dates for any of the recordings, though they appear to be from the late ’20s. The sound is excellent for Benedetti, and less so for Solloway; one hears differing degrees of crackliness depending on the condition of individual source recordings, but overall the sound is better than acceptable and the transfers are excellent. ~ Uncle Dave Lewis , Rovi Performers: Harry Solloway – Violin; Maurice Faure – Piano; Rene Benedetti – Violin; Waldemar Liachowsky – Piano
